The Service Ribbon:
A representation of the Vietnam Service Medal (ribbon) rests below the inner rings of the Seal. Yellow is the imperial color of Vietnam. The red represents the three ancient Vietnamese empires of Tonkin, Annam, and Cochin China and recalls the 3 stripes on a yellow field of the flag of South Vietnam. The green border on each side alludes to the jungle of that country.
